About the Nominating Process

Members of 100+ Women Who Care-Chittenden County may nominate one nonprofit organization serving Chittenden County each quarter.

There is no limit on the number of nominations an organization can receive. In other words, different members can nominate the same organization in any quarter.

Nominations close a week before each quarterly meeting, and each is assigned a number. Steering committee members then gather and randomly choose three finalists via the online tool pickerwheel.com.

We invite representatives of the selected organizations to present to our membership at the next quarterly meeting. Members attending in person or online then vote for the primary recipient of that quarter’s $10,000+ donation. The other two finalists share our remaining funds for that quarter.

The primary recipient also has an opportunity to receive another $5,000 from the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation, thanks to its 50% matching grant for organizations that meet its funding guidelines.

NOMINATION GUIDELINES

You must be a member of 100 Women Who Care-Chittenden County to nominate a nonprofit organization — only one nonprofit each quarter — to receive a portion of our pooled quarterly donation. The organization being nominated must meet all of these criteria:

  1. It must be recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization OR have a valid nonprofit partner that is able to accept donations on its behalf.

  2. It must serve residents of Chittenden County and be able to designate 100% of any donation from us to serve only Chittenden County residents.

  3. It must have been in operation for at least one year as of the date of the quarterly meeting for which it is being nominated.

  4. If it has received a gift from us in the past, it must be eligible to be renominated (see here).

  5. It cannot be a school, booster club, PTO, political party, fraternal group, or religious organization. (Churches, synagogues, and mosques are not eligible.)

  • You can view the list of nominees for this quarter to date, along with the number of members who have nominated them (in parentheses) if they have received more than one nomination.

  • Looking for inspiration? See our list of prior nominees who were not selected to present at one of our meetings.
