100+ Women Who Care of Chittenden County, VT awards Turning Point Center, Vermont Youth Orchestra and ANEW Place a combined $14,600 at its quarterly meeting on October 28, 2021.

BURLINGTON, Vermont, November 9, 2021 100+ Women Who Care (100WWC), a worldwide charitable giving circle with a chapter in Chittenden County, celebrates their 18 month anniversary by awarding Turning Point Center $10,000+, Vermont Youth Orchestra and ANEW Place each receiving $2,000+ at its 6th quarterly meeting on October 27, 2021. To date 100WWC-Chittenden County have donated more than $65,000 to local nonprofits and are on track to donate $95,000 when their 2 year anniversary arrives.

The October meeting opened with Thato Ratsebe of the Association of Africans Living in Vermont (AALV), who was last quarter’s primary recipient. Thato shared how some of the $12,000 they received in July 2021 has been and will be used in Chittenden County. “Hearing first hand about the direct impact our combined donations are making in the community, reminds me why I remain committed”, wrote member, Jill Kaplan.

The Steering Committee took some time recently to reflect on the prior 18 months, and to make sure deliberately growing from the present 163 members seemed appropriate. It was decided that membership remains open and in fact they are hoping to reach 200 members in 2022!

To join 100+WWC, members pledge to donate $100 (or teams $50 each) four times a year. Each member is encouraged to nominate a local nonprofit quarterly, who they would like to see in the random draw to come speak to the members and possibly become the primary recipient of the quarter. The 3 nonprofits who are randomly pulled from a hat will share their organization's message and mission with the members at the quarterly meeting. Members vote at the meeting and the Primary recipient is selected at that time.

After Turning Point Center became the primary recipient in October 2021, Cameron Lauf, Interim Executive Director exclaimed: "The Turning Point Center of Chittenden County wishes to express its deepest gratitude to 100 Women Who Care Chittenden County and thank them for honoring us with their quarterly award of $10,000! Vermont is facing a critical juncture concerning its substance using population. Substance use fatalities are at an all-time high.

Treatment and local service providers are overwhelmed. Our recovery center is facing the perfect storm of funding cuts and a growing need for our services. Because of 100WWC and their contribution, we can rise to the occasion. We can work together to help those suffering. We can do more as a community."

A member since the 1st Quarter, Ducky Donath shared, “I’ve been around the nonprofit community for more than 50 years, but am learning about new (to me) organizations and getting volunteer ideas each time we meet.“

The next scheduled meeting is January 26, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. via Zoom. We welcome guests to join our meeting. Feel free to email us with inquiries or to sign up as a guest, 100wwvct@gmail.com. Or to check us out on our website or to join at https://www.100wwcvt.com/
